POSTGRADUATE COURSE FOR DIPLOMATS FROM MACEDONIA AND MONTENEGRO

Postgraduate Course in Geopolitics, Processes of Democratization and International Protection of Human Rights for Diplomats in the Republics of Macedonia and Montenegro

(Law n. 180, Feb. 6, 1992, Italy’s participation in peace and humanitarian initiatives) (90 hours)

SIOI, on the behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate General for the European countries, made a project aimed at training 15 diplomats from the Republics of Macedonia and Montenegro engaged in the field of international relations. The training program, taught in English, reviewed the salient features of the new concept of global security, the geopolitics of regional arrangements, economic and social cooperation between States, processes of democratization and protection of minorities, the United Nation’s system of protection of human rights, the European Union’s role in promoting human rights, and peace and development of cultural interrelations among peoples. The master’s was subdivided in four thematic areas—Law and International Organization; Geopolitics and International Relations; Processes of Democratization and International Protection of Human Rights, Policies and Institutions of the European Union. In addition, two special seminars on the techniques of public speaking and ceremonies in international relations were created. Upon completion of the training institutional visits were organized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chamber of Deputies and the Representation of Italy in the European Commission.
