Network
The SIOI is the Italian Association of the United Nations (UNA-Italy), a founding member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (W.F.U.N.A.). The Society, in collaboration with UNICRI (United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute), assists the UN Regional Information Center in Brussels (UNRIC) in the dissemination of information and documentation, in collaboration with schools and universities, in the promotion of UN activities, in the celebration of events related to United Nations and Human Rights Days, and in support of the goals of the World Organization.
The SIOI is a member of the International Forum on Diplomatic Training (IFDT) which was established by a consortium of academic and diplomatic training institutions in 1972. Today, IFDT includes the heads of academic institutes dedicated to the study of international relations and diplomacy, and of accredited institutes for the training of official diplomats from 56 countries.
The SIOI is part of the Italian Network of European Documentation Centers. As a European documentation center, established in 1958 at the request of the European Commission, it carries out extensive dissemination of information at the national level, it participates in internal network meetings and intra-network working groups and it organizes, promotes, and disseminates events within the framework of projects and initiatives of the Network, to encourage citizen participation and promote European values.
Since 2018, the SIOI has been a member of UArctic – The University of the Arctic, a network of universities, colleges, research institutes, and other organizations involved in education and research in the Arctic regions, to contribute to the promotion of shared education and knowledge. The UArctic’s strategic objective is to create a strong circumpolar region by enhancing the human capacities of Northern communities, supporting sustainable economies, and creating a global partnership.
