Space Institutions and Policies

GOAL AND CONTENT

The Italian Society for International Organization and the Italian Space Agency are offering the training programme in Space Institutions and Policies.

The course aims to provide specialized preparation and professional training in the field of Space Institutions and Policies in particular, but not exclusively, in the legal, political, and economic disciplines regarding the themes of the exploration and the use of outer space.

A significant part of the program will be dedicated to European Space Policy, with particular emphasis on the role of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the use of the European programs for satellite navigation GALILEO and GMES. In the Legal Section a special contribution will be made by ESA – European Centre for Space Law (ECSL). The innovative character of this course – in an area which is not fully developed – concerns the training of specialists in Space policies with legal – institutional, technical – scientific and socio – economic competences, who will be able to operate, in various capacities and with various levels of responsibility, in international institutions, in addition to national and international companies and institutes based on research.

The objectives of Space policy, which is still evolving, require immediate legal, economic, social and security initiatives. It is important to promote the idea of a new professional figure with specific competence for the organization of a wide range of space activities in the national, European and international context.
