The Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI – UNA Italy) promotes youth engagement in international and United Nations system and values and organizes workshops, conferences, competitions , Youth Model UN, simulations and Hackathons related to the most pressing international and UN challenges.
Students’ Movement for International Organization (MSOI/UNYA-Italy) cooperate in the organization of all the youth events.

#ZEROHACKATHON 2019 – THE SIOI INTERNATIONAL YOUTH MARATHON OF IDEAS

The Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI – UNA Italy) together with the Students’ Movement for International Organization (MSOI/UNYA-Italy), in partnership with the Italian Ministry of EducationUniversity and Research, the United States Embassy to Italy and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Rome will launch the #ZeroHackathon2019 on Oceans and Poles .

ZERO is where we start from in building up this innovative contest that brings ideas and creative solutions to challenging problems taking into considerations the proposal of the Green Generation: The Young Changemakers for the Future of Europe.

SIOI’s youth marathon of ideas will focus on the role of sustainable development to address the consequences of climate change in the Arctic, Antarctic and Oceans. The event is cofunded by Erasmus+.

We will challenge more than 200 highly motivated young students from high schools and universities all around the world. They will gather in Rome from 2 to 4 October 2019, to take part in the international youth marathon where creativity, civic engagement and teamwork are key elements to success.

Participants are invited to develop innovative, high-impact ideas and projects to promote international cooperation, rising awareness on the most pressing issues related to Oceans and Poles, strengthening resilience of multi-scale changes, addressing the rapidly changing climate and the consequences of pollution, improving a safe and secure use of marine protected areas and the Arctic and Antarctic resources.

Those involved will work in teams and submit their final proposal via a video and/or a ppt presentation at the pitch session that will take place during the closing Ceremony.
Proposals will be assessed by a multidisciplinary jury and judged based on their practicality, social impact and innovation.
Prestigious institutional representatives, professionals and teachers will also participate in the event and make their knowledge and methods available in order to support teams in the development of their solutions.

If you are a SIOI Alumni, you will have the chance to attend a selected SIOI Master Course, but if you are not yet, we will welcome you at SIOI by offering the chance to attend one of our training courses… Just do your best!

#ZeroHackathon: Oceans and Polar Connections will serve as a central venue in creating a connection between learning and doing, enabling young people to collaborate creatively, promoting the importance of cooperation and teamwork in order to tackle the most pressing global challenges.

The Hack competition is linked to the National Plan for Digital Education conceived by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and implemented by the General Directorate for the Digital Innovation (DG EFID).

ZeroHackathon 2019 on Oceans and Poles – Green Generation: Young Changemakers for the Future of Europe is co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme of the European Union.

#ZEROHACKATHON 2018 – THE SIOI INTERNATIONAL YOUTH COMPETITION OF IDEAS

The Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI – UNA Italy) together with the Students’ Movement for International Organization (MSOI/UNYA-Italy), in partnership with the United States Embassy to Italy, organize #ZEROHackathon, the international youth competition of ideas on the most pressing international issues.

ZERO is where we start from in building up this innovative contest that brings ideas and creative solutions to challenging problems taking into considerations the proposal of the new generation.

After the incredible success of the first edition, organized, from the 30th November to the 2 December 2016, with the technical support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, a completely renewed version of the event will take place this year from 2nd to 4th May 2018 and will focus on the role of Sport in its social, educational and economic dimension.

Sport has the power to provide a universal framework for learning values, thus contributing to the development of soft skills needed for responsible citizenship. Moreover, Sport represents a unique tool for promoting international cooperation, social progress and peace. The United Nations envisages sport as an important and powerful tool with the potential to tackle challenges entailed in each of the 17 SDGs. Moreover, the European Union recognizes that sport can contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, as well as its role in society, its economic dimension to good governance and sport diplomacy.

Participants of #ZEROHacakthon2018 will be invited to develop innovative high-impact ideas, projects, services and/or tools capable of meeting international requirements and presenting achievable responses on the most pressing international issues related to Sport as a tool to promote Development and Peace. The event will also include the participation of prestigious institutional representatives, professionals and teachers who will make their knowledge and methods available to support teams in the development of their solutions.

The young minds will be asked to work in team and submit their final proposal presenting a video and/or a ppt presentation during the pitch session that will take place during the closing Ceremony. Proposals will be assessed by a multidisciplinary jury according to their creativity, practicality, social impact, innovation. The best proposals will be awarded!

ZERO Hackathon will serve as a youth hub creating a connection between learning and doing, enabling young people to share information, promote the use of creativity and the importance of cooperation and team work, tackle the most important global challenges.

Since 1997, the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI – UNA Italy), aiming at promoting youth engagement in international and United Nations system and values, organizes ROMUN, the youth Model UN, simulations, workshops, conferences, competitions related to the most pressing UN challenges.
Students’ Movement for International Organization (MSOI/UNYA-Italy) cooperate in the organization of all the youth events.
ROMUN serves as an exceptional venue for generating organizational visibility, engaging in young professional networking, and supporting efforts to inform key UN issues. Upwards of 500 highly qualified youth participants representing public colleges, universities, and graduate schools from all around the world attend the initiatives every year.
ROMUN is an extraordinary intellectual and social UN hub that brings together an amazing assortment of young minds from around the world to engage in cultural exchange and gain first-hand experience of negotiating processes, decision making, design thinking, team building, etc…
Its main purpose is to provide students and young professionals with the opportunity to improve their knowledge of the UN system, while enhancing the awareness of the most relevant international issues and contributing to advance feasible and innovative proposals for action.
The events see also the participation of prestigious representatives and experts and is hosted by the most important national and international institutions.
The city of Rome is at the forefront of European and global diplomacy, hosting some of the most important international organizations, such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agriculture and Development (IFAD) and the World Food Programme (WFP), and as such is the ideal location for International Models and youth events linked to the United Nations. Its historical role as a promoter of dialogue among peoples lends an additional value to this unique experience.

ROMUN PRESENTS #ONEARCTIC THE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SIMULATION OF THE ARCTIC COUNCIL

The Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI – UNA Italy) and its Student Movement (MSOI/UNYA-Italy), in partnership with the United States Diplomatic Missions in Italy, is launching the first international simulation of the Arctic Council to be played in Italy (Rome) at SIOI – UNA Italy and Farnesina premises from 2 to 5 May 2017. The Arctic is the most vulnerable region on the Earth which is affected by ongoing global warming and economic exploitation. A well-managed Arctic marked by international cooperation is vital for rising Arctic awareness, strengthening resilience of multiscales changes, addressing the rapidly changing climate, improving a safe and secure use of the Arctic resources. The Arctic Council is the preeminent international forum promoting cooperation, coordination and interaction among its members in particular on issues of sustainable development and environmental protection in the Arctic. Are you ready to represent an Arctic State, Permanent Participant or Observer as expert, Senior Arctic Official or Minister of Foreign Affairs and negotiate to #savethearctic?
