SIOI – UNA Italy, in cooperation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is promoting and organizing the United Nations Youth Delegate Programme for Italian students (UNYDP Italy).

Youth Delegates (YDs) are young people who officially represent the interests of the youth of their country at the United Nations. They are selected to accompany their government’s diplomatic delegation to the UN meetings.

2017 is a crucial year for the Italian leading role in multilateral relations: Italy is serving first as non-permanent member of the UNSC and will hold the rotating presidency in November; the 43rd G7 summit under Italian presidency will be held on May 26–27 in Taormina; Italy will also be a part in the troika of OSCE in view of being the chair in 2018.

Including UNA-UNYA Youth Delegates in the Italian government delegation to the 72nd United Nations General Assembly represents a unique opportunity for Italian young students interested in global affairs and decision-making.

Mi chiamo Giuseppina, cittadina italiana ed europea di ventitré anni, e sono una studentessa di giurisprudenza all’Università di Bologna interessata al diritto internazionale e all’investimento sul potenziale giovanile.
Ho iniziato a conoscere l’Organizzazione delle Nazioni Unite quando ero ancora al liceo e presi parte a una simulazione accademica delle Nazioni Unite. Da allora ho preso parte a molte altre conferenze e attività didattiche che mi hanno aiutato a comprendere il lavoro dell’ONU e l’importanza dello scambio di idee con coetanei provenienti da altri paesi e contesti socio-culturali. Sono stata promotrice e fondatrice dell’associazione studentesca AlmaMUN Society, Rapporteur alla ROMUN2015, studentessa Erasmus+ all’Università KU Leuven e una stagista al Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law. Ho partecipato al nono Forum dei Giovani dell’UNESCO sullo sviluppo sostenibile e il ruolo dei giovani e a una visita di studio alla missione di peacekeeping dell’ONU a Cipro. Queste esperienze hanno confermato la mia convinzione che le giovani generazioni siano l’attore più importante quando si tratta di rinnovare le istituzioni esistenti a livello locale e globale e per raggiungere gli obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile (SDGs). Sono onorata di essere la prima giovane delegata italiana donna all’ONU e mi impegnerò al mio meglio per rappresentare le nostre istanze e speranze. Sono entusiasta di intraprendere questo percorso per avvicinare la gioventù italiana all’ONU e l’ONU a noi giovani.

I am Giuseppina a 23-year-old Italian and European citizen and a law student at the University of Bologna with a strong interest in international law and youth empowerment.
I got to know about the Organization of the United Nations when I was still in high school and I participated in a Model United Nations conference. Since then, I was involved in many more conferences and learning activities that helped me gain an insight into the work of the UN and the value of exchanging ideas with young peers from different countries and backgrounds. I was promoter and founder of the student-led organization AlmaMUN Society, Rapporteur at ROMUN2015, Eramus+ student at KU Leuven University and an intern at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law. I participated in the 9th UNESCO Youth Forum on sustainable development and the role of youth and I was part of an international study group to the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus. These experiences strengthen my confidence that young people are the most important actor when it comes to reshape existing local and global institutions and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. I am honored to be the first female Italian Youth Delegate at UN and I will do my very best to represent our stances and hopes. I cannot wait to embark in this journey to bring Italian youth closer to the UN and the UN closer to us.

Mi chiamo Tommaso Murè, sono uno studente, un appassionato di politica internazionale, un amante degli sport su tavola ed ho un debole per la musica elettronica.
Sono nato e vivo a Roma dove attualmente Studio Relazioni Internazionali. Ho iniziato a dedicarmi alla rappresentanza studentesca negli anni del liceo, focalizzandomi sia su tematiche locali che internazionali. Nel tempo, ho preso parte a numerosi scambi culturali, trascorso periodi di studio all’estero (in Spagna, Francia, Irlanda e Germania) e viaggiato molto, visitando paesi e realtà di tutto il mondo.
Dal 2016 sono membro del consiglio direttivo di MSOI Roma e nello stesso anno ho preso parte alla prima edizione di #zerohackathon dove, con il mio team, abbiamo vinto il primo premio. Anche grazie a queste esperienze ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere studenti motivati, preparati e pieni di idee innovative, rafforzando così la mia convinzione sul ruolo fondamentale che le nuove generazioni ricoprono nel contribuire ad un futuro equo e sostenibile.
Essere dunque lo UNYD, per me vuol dire coinvolgere queste/i ragazze/i, lavorando insieme sulla dimensione locale degli SDGs e sulla consapevolezza che i nostri gesti quotidiani hanno, sempre più, una valenza politica di primaria importanza che influenza fortemente il nostro futuro.

My name is Tommaso Murè, I am a student, an International Politics enthusiast, a board-sports lover and an electronic music listener.
I was born in Rome where I’m currently studying IR. Since my highschool days, I started caring about students government activities focusing both on local and international issues. I also took part to cultural exchange activities and spent time studying abroad, mostly in France, Ireland, Spain and Germany. Moreover, since I was a child I have always travelled al lot all over the world.
Since 2016 I am a member of the MSOI Roma board council. In the same year I took part to the first edition of #zerohackathon, where my team and I won the first prize. This kind of experiences allowed me to meet many motivated and skilled youth that strengthened my belief that new gener-ations play a key role in achieving a fair and sustainable future.
Thus, to be the UNYD – Italy, it means to me to involve younger generations in working on the very local dimensions of SDGs and, also, raising their awareness that our daily habits have acquired an increasing political meaning that further influence our future.
